Promotion
Cannot Promote
* Johor Darul Ta'zim II, Selangor II, and Terengganu II aren't eligible to promote as their parent clubs (Johor Darul Ta'zim, Selangor, and Terengganu) play in the Super League. * FAM-MSN Project is only as a backup squad and will not promote to Super League * Deduction: Perak FA -9 points This was the last season of the Malaysian Premier League as the league had been discontinued for a few years before the MFL reintroduces it as a semi-pro league M2. The top four non-backing teams from this league were promoted to the Super League which will be expanded to 18 teams from season 2023. The bottom two non-backing teams supposed to play play-off matches against the champions and runners-up of the M3 League to determine the last two places to qualify for the Super League. However, since the two teams from the M3 League failed to complete the club licensing application before the deadline of 17th September 2022, the bottom two teams from this league qualify for the Super League, making six teams in total.
